about

This is the only track on the EP with vocals. It was a very deliberate choice of mine. It is not often that I write songs, as I often struggle writing lyrics for music. That said, 'A Forlorn Dance' felt a very natural song for me to write.

My friend Nora did a fantastic job singing on this track. She took my original directions and did her own thing with it, making it a more authentic Jazz sounding song. Thank you, Nora, for helping me out with this, I look forward to our next collaboration.

The bassist, Rob, is a consummate professional. Every one of his takes was perfect so it really didn't matter which one ended up on the track. He is definitely the best bass player I have ever encountered.

lyrics

1st Verse

Moments of calm, are hard to find.
When you live a life like mine, forever in doubt.
An empty heart, an empty home.
What have I done to feel this way?

Chorus

I have no romance; I dance a forlorn dance.
I have no one to call my own.
It doesn't matter I have no one,
To break my heart, to turn me down

2nd Verse

My problems are solved, with a flick of the wrist.
I end my wars with words alone.
But the casualties are far too high,
To call it a noble win, a humble loss

Chorus

I have no romance; I dance a forlorn dance.
I have no one to call my own.
It doesn't matter I have no one,
To break my heart, to turn me down

Bridge
I won't tell you how to fix me,
For we both know you won't put things right.
It's all your fault that I've been left like this.
You say you care, I feel you lie.

Chorus

I have no romance; I dance a forlorn dance.
I have no one to call my own.
It doesn't matter I have no one,
To break my heart, to turn me down
