When the Lore By Night team told me they needed something "uplifting and cheesy", I assumed it was spam. Most of the requests I got from them have been anything but!

As the name would imply, these piece plays during moments during ad readings of sponsored podcast episodes. Whatever I decided to do, it had to be straightforward and simplistic so it didn't distract from the information being delivered to the listener. Still, it also had to have a certain level of energy to excite the listener to purchase/look/subscribe to the service in question.

This piece is in D, a very popular choice of key. Many pop songs are in this bright, jovial key and many follow a four-chord structure like this one does (for the most part). It breaks away from it at the end of the chorus section with a deceptive cadence, with the sudden syncopated Asus4 and Bsus4 chords, implying a modulation to E, before swiftly returning to the home key of D.
